How to save power at home
We all learned about the non renewable and renewable sources of energy in school. The world is faced with severe energy crisis now and none remain unaffected anymore. Should we leave everything to the governments, or can we do something to save power? The answer is simple: we can.
Let's look at ways to save electricity at home. Computer: More often than not, our monitors are not switched off by us even after we've shut down our computers. Keep the screen and the computer switched off when they are not being used by you. You will help save some more power for the world. Light bulbs: You must have even used them at times. As a power-saving measure, start using the CFL light bulbs as much as you can. If you're believing they're higher priced than the routine bulbs, the gains of the CFL bulbs will prove considerably more cost effective in the long turn by the number of electricity they will save. Air Conditioner: Set the temperature at the minimum or maximum best you're comfortable with, based on the season. Try not to place it at temperatures that are too low or too high. Setting the air conditioner at temperatures that are acceptable helps save lots of energy. Washing Machines: Would you use your washing machine even when there aren't enough clothes to wash? Minimize the quantity of washes by washing full load of clothes every time. Television: Take off your television set's power plug when not using it. This may not seem a big deal but this miniature measure will help save power. Geysers: Keep the geyser thermostat at the minimum heat. You don't need to warm the water at a very high temperature or for too long. Refrigerator: Bring food that is hot to room temperatures before putting it into the fridge. You might also conserve power by taking frozen or cold food out of the refrigerator considerably before the mealtime, thus saving electricity in heating it. Car: For an air-conditioner equipped car, pull up the windows of your auto before changing on the air conditioner. |
